Saddle stitch
Sheets nested, folded once, fastened on the fold.
Imposition
Mapping reader pages to sheet sides and slots.
Reader page
A page in the source PDF, numbered 1…N after padding.
Sheet
One piece of paper with a Front and a Back impression.
Signature
Here: the whole booklet as one nested set. No multi-section mode.
2-up
Two reader pages on each impression, left and right of the fold.
Page reordering
The Front-Left / Front-Right / Back-Left / Back-Right formula.
Creep / shingling
Inward shift on inner sheets so trim margins stay even.
Gutter
Extra space on each spine side of a slot.
Bleed
User-entered inset from artwork to trim. No mark detection.
Trim
Finished size after the bleed inset. Crop marks sit on trim.
Spreads
Opened pairs: cover wrap N|1, then 2|3, 4|5, …
Duplex
Double-sided printing. Export order is Front then Back per sheet.
Long-edge / short-edge flip
Which axis the printer turns. Landscape 2-up: long edge. Rotate backs 180° if your machine is on short edge.
